Surveys of Galactic Hydrogen

Joachim Köppen Kiel Sept. 2013

This applet shows the results of the LAB (=Leiden-Argentina-Bonn) survey at the radio line of atomic hydrogen at 21 cm wavelength, but degraded to lower angular resolutions, as one would observe with a radio telescope smaller than 25 m diameter.

Also included are LAB data for the region around M31. Finally, data taken with the ESA-Haystack telescope at Illkirch (2.3 m diameter) of the surveys ISGH5 and DataCube (the versions A show longitudes 0° to 360°). Note that the Illkirch data are not calibrated in proper antenna temperature!

The data are in a datacube of galactic longitude (from -180° to +180° (or 0° to about 250° or 360°) in steps of 2° or 5°), galactic latitude (from -30° to +30° in steps of 2°), and radial velocity from -150 to +150 (or -400 to +400) km/s. False colour Maps of the antenna temperature as a function of any two of the three parameters are shown for a fixed value of the third parameter. Also, Plots in one of the parameter can be done, for fixed values of the other two parameters. <

No instructions or explanatory pages are available yet ... sorry ;-)
