Onedimensional Hydrodynamics: Simple Version
- This version of the Applet uses a simple direct discretisation
which is not strictly conservative. In all other respects, it is
close to the conservative version, and solves
the one-dimensional evolution of
density, velocity, and temperature in a linear shock tube.
- Explanations and Help
- The only difference is the application of a small amount of
smoothing which counteracts the instabilities of the
discretisation method in the presence of strong jumps or
steep gradients in the initial profiles.
- Advective transport is dealt here,
using the same discretisation approach, but solves only the
mass equation with a user-given velocity field.
