The slingshot plots trip page.

This page organizes all the plot of the slingshot. You can:

  • make a scan to plot the eccentricity and the inclination of the first part of the orbit.
  • show parameters of the orbit in the sphere of influence: trajectory in the sphere, eccentricity, inclination, deflection angle and approach velocity.
  • make a scan to plot the eccentricity and the inclination of the orbit after the gravity assist procedure and also two graphs to compute the distance from a thrid planet.

For the departure and the arrival you have to complete 3 boxes.

enter the number of points you want.

the time (in years) from which you want to make start your graph, knowing that 0.0 corresponds to the departure year of the current trajectory.

enter the time (in years) until which you want to display the graph.

In addition, if you want know the distance to a third planet, you can enter the planet name and the date where the ship would reach the planet.

The plots about the first part of the trip.

You have access from the drop-down menu at the right top corner of the page, to two graphs of the first part of the orbit. This graphs are like the one in the simple advanced interface.

The plots in the sphere of influence.

To understand better the situation in the sphere of influence, you can see the differents graphs about the trajectory inside the sphere of influence of the planet. Three-dimensional graphs display shall also be available. The third dimension is given by a coloured display, the X-axis shall be departure time, and the Y-axis the arrival time.

You have the choice between the following graphs:

- eccentricity

- inclination of the orbit

- approach velocity with respect to the planet

- trajectory in the sphere

- deflection angle

The plots after the gravity assist procedure.

You have access via the drop-down menu at the right top corner of the page, to two graphs of the second part of the orbit. These graphs are similar to the ones in the simple advanced interface. There are also special graphs to compute the distance between the ship and a third planet at a entered date.

You have the choice between the following graphs:

- eccentricity

- inclination of the orbit

- distance from a third planet

- distance from a third planet as a function of time
